What is Overlanding?

Overlanding is an often vehicle-dependent kind of adventure hobby where people seek remote destinations off the beaten path for weeks or longer on end. This hobby has roots from over 100 years ago but has recently seen a surge in popularity.

What do you need for Overlanding?

Here is a short list of things to keep in before overlanding. The first thing to consider is what vehicle to use when overlanding. Because of its adventurous nature, overlanding is best done with adaptable and reliable vehicles. Some effective vehicles may include Jeeps, SUVs, trucks, even motorcycles. These vehicles all have their pros and cons which are important to consider for the specific type of trip you are taking. But given that, the most important thing is to have a vehicle that can handle a wide range of environmental and weather conditions. Next, now that you have a vehicle picked out, you should consider what to pack inside it. Some basic survival gear like tools, a tent, water, a first-aid kit, and basic food would be a good idea. Other items that may be helpful would be a paper map and compass, a camp stove, portable refrigerator, utility jugs, and more. Lastly, you will have to pack whatever other gear you plan to utilize along the way. This may include, bicycles, canoes or kayaks, fishing or hunting gear, or whatever else you may want. Because overlanding is vehicle dependent so is what you can pack. If you cannot fit everything you need in your vehicle it may be worth it to bring along a utility trailer to increase your storage capabilities.
